Read the fine print. Then push back.
ContractScanner turns a lease, job offer, freelance agreement or car-purchase contract into a plain-language report: what you're agreeing to, which clauses could cost you, and the exact words to ask for instead — in your language.
Your file never leaves your device · nothing is stored · how that works
1. Term. The lease begins on 1 January 2027 for twelve (12) months. At the end of the term this Lease automatically renews for successive twelve-month periods unless Tenant gives written notice at least ninety (90) days before the end of the current term. Landlord may decline renewal at any time.
Automatic renewal · high riskMiss one 90-day window and you're locked in for another full year — while the landlord can walk away whenever it likes.Ask for: month-to-month after the first term, 30-day notice.
3. Security deposit. Tenant pays a deposit of $3,700. The deposit is non-refundable and will be applied to cleaning, repainting and "general wear" at Landlord's sole discretion.
Non-refundable deposit · high riskDeposits normally cover damage beyond ordinary wear and come back to you. "Sole discretion" means you'd have no say.Ask for: refundable deposit, itemized deductions, return within 30 days.
5. Repairs. Tenant is responsible for all repairs and maintenance to the premises, including plumbing, heating, electrical and appliances, regardless of cause, up to $2,500 per incident.
Repairs shifted to you · medium riskYou could pay to fix a boiler you didn't break. Structure, plumbing and heating are usually the landlord's job.Ask for: tenant covers only damage they cause; landlord keeps systems and appliances.
12. Notices. Notices to Tenant shall be sent to or by telephone to . Notices to Landlord shall be sent to the management office.

We designed the pipeline so that a breach on our side would find nothing to leak.

Hi Dana, thank you for the offer — I'm excited to join. Before I sign, could we adjust two points: the 24-month worldwide non-compete, and the scope of the IP clause…
Where ContractScanner fits
It isn't a lawyer, and it isn't a general chatbot. It sits in between — and it tells you when to escalate.

What it is — and what it isn't
It is
- A careful, plain-language reading of the whole document, with every finding quoted so you can check it
- Built for the weaker party: tenant, employee, contractor, consumer, borrower
- Private by design — file on your device, text redacted, nothing stored
- Honest about its limits: it tells you when a lawyer should look
It isn't
- Legal advice, or a lawyer–client relationship
- A verdict on whether a clause is enforceable where you live — laws differ by country and state
- Infallible: AI can misread or miss things. Always compare the quote with the original
- A place that keeps your documents. We can't retrieve a report for you later, because we never had it
Frequently asked questions
Is ContractScanner legal advice?
No. ContractScanner is software that explains contract language in plain words and flags clauses that commonly cause problems. It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. For important decisions, consult a licensed lawyer in your area. Full disclaimer.
Does my contract get uploaded or stored?
Your file is never uploaded. Text is extracted from the PDF, Word file or photo inside your browser, personal data such as emails and phone numbers is redacted on your device, and only that text is sent for analysis over an encrypted connection. We do not store contract text or reports. How it works in detail.
What does it cost?
The preview is free: a summary, overall risk level and the three most important clauses. A full report costs $4.99 per contract, one-time. If you have several contracts, choose the number at checkout. There is no subscription. Pricing.
Which languages does it support?
ContractScanner reads contracts in most major languages and can write the report in the contract's language or in one you choose — including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
How accurate is it?
It is good at finding and explaining clauses that are commonly unfavorable, and it quotes the exact wording so you can check every finding yourself. Like any AI, it can misread or miss things, and it does not know the specific law of every country or state. Treat the report as a well-prepared briefing, not a verdict.
